And i had neither a premier company name associated nor i had a good mentor . What all i had was just a project name and the technology with which i had decided to go ahead with as i fortunately found a book of the project i had finalized after having a good amount of rides in metro to travel from my place to nai sadak book market in delhi and licking a good amount of dust in hunting a comprehensive book of a project . I had to take all that effort just because i did not want myself to be rated low relatively in my batch of 300 students out of which numerous students bagged a training in PSUs and other renowned institutes and organizations . So the only way out to be at par with them if not outperform them was to opt for a latest framework or widely used technology .
And that is what i did , i decided to work on struts and hibernate . The hottest trends in IT industry .
But then there was a big problem lying ahead . A book , even if it has everything in , ready to serve form , can't teach you every practical implementation . That comes from practice and brainstorming on the code pieces written on your own and getting resolved the problem faced by an expert who can actually go through the developed logic and guide through the defect in the logic or explain a right approach to proceed with the problem in hand. And i was lacking this important source of guidance .
So what if i did not have it in person i could anytime avail it through correspondence on internet , thanks to my data card , that this idea struck . Now it was itself a task to hunt for such a resource .and that too for free as e-mentoring costs high , especially in IT technologies and i did not want to spend any more of my parent's money after having borrowed for doing a paid training instead of a sponsored one .
This was the time where i used my resourcefulness and utilized social networking sites such as orkut to find a mentor . I would search for the profiles with key words struts and hibernate and go through the profiles and then would drop a message regarding my queries .
And believe me , i was surprised as the response i received was just opposite to what i had expected .Rather i should say the response was overwhelming . I write this because the people i posted my queries to were employed in some or the other IT companies where the work is hectic and managing to answer anonymous queries in spite of their work was surprising .
This was when i came in contact with Aditya Degaley , an engineering graduate from amity university nearly of my age . I still remember the quotation on his profile "Love for not what i have but for what i am". These were the words which led me explore his profile a little more so i tried to view his uploaded photo gallery and i could hardly find his own pictures there and even if there were any , they were taken from an angle as if deliberately trying to hide himself in them . So i made out that he was a very humble and a modest guy. And certainly , he was quite an intellect and that too among the ones who believe in sharing their knowledge as he would not only answer my query mails regularly but also he insisted that even if after trying , i was unable to reach to any solution then he would provide me with one .
This learning through social networking which was just limited to the exchange of technical mails continued with my e-mentors for about two months and finally resulted in my successfully completing my project .
After that what i remember is that i got busy with myself in gathering of all the formal documents and various other formalities as i was about to step into the professional life and inadvertently got out of touch with my e-mentors without even realizing that i did not do my courteous bit which they deserved and i owed .
Then one fine in september when i was surfing the internet i was reminded of aditya .So i searched him on facebook , added him and sent him a message asking him about his well being . Even at that time , though i wanted to express how grateful i was to him for all his help and guidance but i was so busy with my own things that i procrastinated it . But i think that later of mine got really late as when i visited his facebook profile two days before , the only messages i could read on his wall were those of condolences and words of prayers
asking his soul to rest in peace .
